What is the difference between natural / rough / raw and polished / tumbled crystals?
The difference is purely aesthetic. A polished / tumbled crystal is simply a natural / rough / raw crystal that has been put through a tumbling machine to smoothen out its surface.
Are Shambala’s crystals genuine and how are they sourced?
When procuring crystals for sale, we at Shambala do our absolute best to ensure we purchase from validated suppliers, most of whom we’ve been dealing with since we first opened for business in 2014 & who, in our experience, have good track records for authenticity & quality. We do not have the capability to scientifically test the composition of the crystals we receive & as such, must rely on buying from proven & trusted suppliers.
The crystals themselves come from mines all around the world, from the Far East to North, Central & South America.
How do I know which crystal(s) to choose?
Crystals may be chosen in one of two ways:
- You need help with a particular issue or would like to improve a specific area of your life. In this case, refer to our Shambala Oracle on our Home page for guidance.
- For one reason or another, you find yourself attracted to a certain crystal; whether because you read about it & like the sound of it, or because upon encountering it in real life, you like the look or feel of it. In this case, follow your instincts!
How do I use my crystals?
Crystals can be used in a multitude of ways depending on what you are trying to achieve. Smaller pieces can be worn as jewellery, carried on one’s person, placed around your space or used in the creation of Crystal Grids. Larger pieces are better suited to positioning around your space in areas where they will be safe from interference & accidents, or for use in Crystal Grids. The benefits to be derived from a particular crystal often dictate the best way in which it should be used.
What if my crystal breaks or someone else touches my crystal?
If your crystal breaks because of something you have done, for example, dropping it by accident & the damage is minor (such as a small chip or crack), you may continue to use it; but if the damage is more significant, it may be better to return it to the earth by burying it with a potted plant or in your garden so you can continue to enjoy the beneficial energies of the crystal in your space, even though you will no longer be able to work with it directly.
If your crystal breaks for no apparent reason, it may be because it has become oversaturated by negative energies. In this case, bury the crystal with a potted plant or in your garden, which will allow the crystal’s energy to recuperate & give you the benefit of its energies in your space going forward, even though you will no longer be able to work with it directly.
If someone touches your crystal, you should clean, cleanse & charge it (see our Product Information page for details) before continuing to use it. Crystals should not be shared as every person has his/her own energetic strengths & weaknesses, which affect crystals & the way they work for their intended user.
Is Incense just as effective as smoking out with Sage or other herbs?
Smoking out with Sage or other herbs can be an onerous process, but if done correctly, the effect is thorough & complete. Lighting Incense on the other hand, is beneficial for uplifting your space & mood, but cannot be relied upon to cleanse the energy of your space the way Sage or other herbs do. We recommend smoking out with Sage or other herbs monthly & lighting Incense daily or as frequently as you like!
What are the different kinds of oils you sell and how do they differ from each other?
Shambala carries both Essential & Aroma oils.
Essential oils are potent oils extracted from the aromatic parts of plants to capture their beneficial properties, scents & flavours. They are “neat,” meaning they are not diluted, mixed, or processed & do not have any additives. Essential oils may be used to create scented perfumes, soaps, or room & clothing sprays. Some, like the brands we carry, are “therapeutic grade,” which makes them safe for application to the skin (once diluted using a carrier oil such as Grapeseed, Almond, or Coconut oil). Their shelf life ranges from 6 months to several years. Essential oils have natural medicinal & aromatherapeutic benefits & as such, are generally more expensive than Aroma or Fragrance oils.
Aroma oils are synthetic; created in a lab using both aromatic plant parts & manufactured chemicals to mimic naturally occurring scents. They should be used for diffusing scents in your space, creating scented candles, or deodorizing room sprays & NOT for application to the skin. Aroma oils have a short shelf life ranging from 6 months to 1 year & offer no medicinal benefits. Because they are cheaper to produce, Aroma oils are generally much cheaper than Essential oils.
